New Delhi : Police authorities in Tamil Nadu’s Erode granted permission for actor-politician Vijay’s election programme scheduled on December 18, subject to 84 conditions. Organisers were asked to pay a security deposit of Rs 50,000. The venue must be cleaned after the event and handed back in its original condition.
According to the police, the party had sought permission to hold the meeting between 11 am and 1 pm at Vijayamangalam, near Erode. The proposed venue is a 16-acre private temple land under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. While police laid down 84 conditions, the HR&CE department initially did not issue a No Objection Certificate.
Erode Superintendent of Police A Sujatha, along with police personnel, inspected the venue and granted permission for the meeting. TVK chief coordinator K A Sengottaiyan said preparatory work for the December 18 public meeting was underway. He, along with party functionaries, inspected the site near the Vijayamangalam tollgate.
Later in the night, Sengottaiyan said, “About 35,000 people, including party workers and the public, will participate.”“The police have imposed various conditions on us, including security arrangements and provisions for drinking water, ambulance and CCTV facilities, and restrooms. We will ensure all necessary arrangements are in place.”
Namakkal: A consultative meeting of TVK booth committee was held at Tiruchengode in Namakkal on Sunday. It was attended by TVK general secretary N Anand and chief coordinator KA Sengottaiyan. Addressing the gathering, Sengottaiyan said TVK will ally only with parties that accept Vijay as the CM candidate. Over 1,000 party cadre participated.
