Surat : Shameful incident has come to light in the Althan area of Surat, where a young man allegedly harassed a minor girl, triggering widespread anger among her family and local residents. The situation escalated late at night as large crowds gathered outside the police station, creating tension in the area.
The crowd surrounded the Althan police station demanding strict action against the accused. A local MLA and senior officials also reached the spot. The accused has been arrested, and the situation is currently under control. As per information, the incident occurred when the minor girl, a resident of the posh Althan area, was returning home. At that time, a man allegedly harassed her. After the girl informed her family, they were left shocked, and anger quickly spread among relatives and community members.
As news of the incident spread rapidly, local residents and members of Hindu organisations gathered in large numbers outside the police station, demanding strict punishment for the accused. Slogans were raised, and due to the large crowd, traffic congestion and chaos were reported in the area. Police tried to pacify the crowd, but tensions remained high. As the situation threatened law and order, police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family, and further investigation is underway. Police is examining CCTV footage from the area.
