
The couple Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife sonam got married on may 11 and arrived from Indore in Madhya Pradesh at Mawlakhiat village on May 22. Sonam Raghuvanshi, wife of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvansh who was found dead in Meghalaya, has been traced to uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. Sonam had reportedly called her brother late last night to share details about her whereabouts. It was Meghalaya Chef Minister Conrad Sangma’s post on twitter that confirmed the breakthrough.
He wrote ,” Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolce in the Raja murder case… 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant. Well done #meghalayapolice.”The Meghalaya Police has alleged that it was Sonam who hired men to kill her husband during their honeymoon trip. Meghalaya DGP I. Nongrang told news agency PTI that Sonam had ‘surrendered’ before the Uttar Pradesh Police. Subsequently, during late-night raids, the police arrested three men for their alleged involvement in the case. A fourth assailant is on the run, the police added. The men arrested during the raid have reportedly confessed that it was Sonam who hired them to murder Raja Raghuvanshi.
Sonam’s brother said that she is still in a state of shock. Her family has denied the police allegations. Her father is demanding a CBI probe into the murder of her son-in-law. The couple, who were visiting Meghalaya for their honeymoon, went missing on May 23. Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was found in a gorge on June 2.
