Pune: What investigators believe began as a secret love affair has now turned into a bitter blame game. Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, who are accused of plotting the murder of Pune based realtor Ketan Agarwal, have reportedly turned against each other during police questioning, with each claiming the other was the real mastermind behind the crime.
The dramatic twist has come just days after police arrested th duo in connection with Ketan’s death at Lohagad Fort. Investigators initially believed the incident was an accidental fall, but the case took a sharp turn after fresh evidence pointed to a possible murder conspiracy.
According to police sources, Chetan has told investigators that he never intended to kill Ketan and only wanted to start a new life with Siya. He allegedly claimed that Siya was determined to get Ketan “out of the way” so they could be together. Siya, however, has rejected those allegations, insisting it was Chetan who planned the killing and repeatedly persuaded her to take part.
With both accused now shifting responsibility onto each other, investigators are relying less on their statements and more on forensic evidence, CCTV footage, mobile phone records and witness accounts to piece together what really happened.
Police allege that Ketan Agarwal was taken to Lohagad Fort on June 18 under the pretext of a trekking trip. They believe he was pushed into a deep gorge in what was allegedly planned to look like a tragic accident. The death initially raised little suspicion, but investigators say inconsistencies in the accused’s accounts and digital evidence led them to reopen the case as a suspected homicide.
During the investigation, police reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting that Siya and Chetan had been in a relationship for several months despite her engagement to Ketan. Investigators also suspect the two had met before the trek to discuss their plans, with CCTV footage and call records now forming an important part of the prosecution’s case.
Police are also examining claims that there may have been earlier attempts to harm Ketan before the fatal trek. Those allegations are still under investigation and have not yet been established in court.
As the probe continues, officers say the conflicting statements made by the accused are unlikely to determine the outcome of the case on their own. Instead, the investigation will depend on scientific evidence, digital records and witness testimony to establish who played what role in the alleged conspiracy.
The case has gripped public attention not only because of the shocking allegations but also because investigators believe the murder was carefully planned and disguised as an accident. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain in police custody, while investigators continue to gather evidence. The allegations against them will ultimately be examined during the trial, where a court will determine their guilt or innocence.
