Nagpur, Maharashtra: In the recent political wind, an instant sensation social media handle, meant to be the voice of the youth of India, has remained at the centre of discussion in the nation today. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is a satirical upfront which questions the government on a variety of matters. Amidst this viral phenomenon, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Leader Sunil Ambekar has commented on it and viewed it as a fruitful event.
When questioned about his feelings related to the CJP, he, without hesitating, perceived it as a democratic process. “We are an aware society and we follow the democratic process. Within that democratic process, we have transparent elections, an open media, and now social media as well. Open forums take place every day. So, I believe that in a democracy, any kind of discussion and people expressing differing opinions should not be taken as a shock. They should be considered a part of the normal process,” Ambekar said.
These remarks by the RSS Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh come amid the BJP leaders opposing the CJP movement and allegedly connecting it to Pakistan’s involvement. Sunil Ambekar views it not as a concern but as an exercise of democracy in India, and assures the RSS’s faith in the youth of the nation, adding, “Our people’s power, our democracy are strong. I believe our democracy has the capacity to include everyone’s voice and emotion, and people should trust that. RSS has full faith in it,” he said.
Answering a question on whether the RSS should express its concern on this, Ambekar replied that democratic institutions, political parties, and the media are capable of addressing such matters on their own. The Cockroach Janta Party surpassed almost all the political parties’ fame on social media, including the ruling party BJP, and several influencers and leaders of the opposition are taking part in spreading the campaign. The government, fearing it, also banned the party’s X account, and the case is undergoing trials in the Delhi HC.
