Red Fort Blast Latest Update : One Body Found Hanging From Tree

New Delhi : The Red Fort blast didn’t just shake Delhi, it tore through its heart. When officials reached the site, they were met with a sight too grim to forget: a man’s body hanging from a tree. The blast was so powerful it hurled the victim off the ground, shattered street lights, and set vehicles ablaze in one of the most crowded stretches near the iconic monument.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and fear as the ground trembled and fire engulfed nearby cars. The blast was so intense it felt like the earth caved in. I thought I was going to die, said one survivor. An eyewitness, who was at the site where an i20 car exploded in a suspected suicide attack, said he fell thrice when the blast ripped through the area on Monday evening.

I ran, and many other people did after the blast. I fell thrice while running. The explosion was so intense that it felt like the earth caved in. People running for safety fell on each other during the commotion. We felt that if the second blast happened, we were all going to die, said an eyewitness.

Dr Umar, believed to be a member of the Faridabad-based terror module that was busted last week, was in the Hyundai i20 car that exploded near Delhi’s iconic landmark. The fidayeen-style attack at one of the country’s tourist hotspots came on a day a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including 2,900 kg of IED-making material. The recovery came during a raid at the premises of a doctor, Muzammil Shakeel, who also worked at Al-Falah University.
