Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The two discussed the West Asia conflict and what it means for stability in the region.
Modi confirmed the call on X. He said he reiterated India’s condemnation of attacks on energy infrastructure a position New Delhi has held through the conflict.
Both leaders agreed on the need to keep shipping lanes open and navigation unobstructed. The reference was pointed: the Strait of Hormuz has been under a sustained blockade, disrupting supply chains globally and squeezing oil-importing countries across Asia, many of which depend on Gulf crude coming through that route.
Modi also thanked the Crown Prince for supporting the Indian community living in Saudi Arabia.
India has significant energy interests and a large diaspora in the Gulf. The call reflects New Delhi’s ongoing diplomatic activity in the region.
