New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress while addressing a public rally in Malda. Addressing the gathering, Modi said he wanted “every poor household in Bengal to have its own permanent home” and ensured that those entitled should receive “free ration” and the full benefits of welfare schemes run by the Central government.
The money that the Central Government sends for the poor is being looted by TMC leaders, the Prime Minister said, adding that the Trinamool government had become an enemy of mine and the people of Bengal. He linked Bengal’s future to the broader vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. Citing BJP’s electoral successes in states like Odisha, Tripura, Assam and Bihar, he said, “Now it’s time for Bengal to have a sushasan (good governance) government.”
Referring to recent urban local body election results, PM Modi said the BJP had achieved a “historic victory” in Maharashtra, with the results announced a day earlier. “In particular, the BJP has secured a record victory for the first time in Mumbai, in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), one of the world’s largest municipal corporations,” he said, calling it a significant development in the state’s politics.
This shows that even in places where winning elections was once considered impossible for the BJP, the party is now receiving unprecedented support,” he said. PM Modi said this growing support reflected the immense trust that voters, especially the younger generation, have in the BJP’s development model. People of India, especially Gen Z, have reposed faith in BJP’s development model. After witnessing your excitement here, I am saying this with full belief that this time people of Bengal will give BJP an overwhelming majority, PM Modi said in Malda.
PM Modi also accused the West Bengal government of blocking central health schemes. Bengal is the only state where Ayushman Bharat is not allowed. TMC people do not let poor people get help from my scheme, he said, asserting that it was time to say goodbye to this kind of cruel government. Highlighting local issues, the Prime Minister said Malda lacked factories, forcing people from Malda and Murshidabad to migrate in search of jobs.
