Officials noted that the newly inaugurated stretch is approximately 12.3 kilometres long and includes multiple elevated stations designed to improve connectivity in several residential and commercial areas of North and East Delhi. The completion of this section enables commuters to travel across different parts of the city more efficiently without needing to pass through central interchanges.
As per the report, the metro expansion is part of infrastructure projects worth over ₹18,300 crore aimed at improving mobility and reducing congestion in the national capital. Authorities said the initiative is expected to enhance the city’s public transport capacity and offer commuters faster and more convenient travel options.
In addition to inaugurating the new corridor, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for three additional metro corridors under the next phase of expansion. These projects are intended to further expand the metro network and improve connectivity between key areas of Delhi.
The launch of the Ring Metro marks an important step in the ongoing development of Delhi’s urban transport system. Officials believe the expanded metro network will help ease traffic pressure on roads while offering residents a more efficient and reliable mode of commuting across the city.
