Patna : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar thanked voters for their long-standing support, saying their trust had enabled him to serve the state for more than two decades. Barely four months after being sworn in for a record 10th term as Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha bid has set off intense speculation over who could succeed him in the top post. You have consistently placed your trust and support in me, and it is on the strength of that trust that we have served Bihar and all of you with complete dedication, said in a post in Hindi on X.
The Janata Dal (United) supremo said he had long nurtured the ambition of serving in all legislative forums. From the very beginning of my parliamentary journey, I have harboured a desire to become a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament. In keeping with that aspiration, I seek to become a Member of the Rajya Sabha in the elections taking place this time, he said.

I wish to assure you with complete honesty that my bond with you will endure in the future as well, and my resolve to work alongside you to build a developed Bihar will remain steadfast,” he said, adding that the new government formed in the state would have his full cooperation and guidance. If elected to the Rajya Sabha, Nitish Kumar will add another milestone to his long political career.
Entry into the Upper House of Parliament would make him one of the rare leaders to have been part of all four legislative forums — both Houses of the Bihar legislature and both Houses of Parliament. On the eve of Holi, I have some good news to share with the people of Bihar. It has been some time since there have been demands, from within the Janata Dal (United) as well as from among the state’s youth, that Nishant, the son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, join politics.
“Decks have been cleared for that, and a formal announcement will be made in a day or two,” he had said. When asked whether Nishant Kumar, an engineering graduate in his 40s, could be one of the JD(U) candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Shrawon Kumar did not rule out the possibility. Anything is possible. All would be made known in a day or two after top party leaders sit down to discuss these things.
