Newly Elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Four Word Message To Donald Trump

New York : Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected mayor of New York City, launched a no-holds-barred attack on US President Donald Trump as he delivered an electric victory speech in which he cast his win as a new “dawn” on NYC. In a direct message to the US President, a vocal critic of Mamdani, the New York mayor said, Donald Trump, since I know you are watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up.

The thumping win by Mamdani, who makes history as the first Muslim and first Indian-origin mayor of New York, marks a major electoral setback for Trump in his second presidency. In the 2024 presidential elections, the deeply Democratic stronghold of New York City showed a shift towards the Republican. The Uganda-born Mamdani, who shifted to New York when he was 7, continued his unsparring denunciation of Trump, who has threatened to pull funds from the city if the “communist” won.

A defiant Mamdani, who led an affordability-focused campaign, refused to apologise for his identity, including being a democratic socialist. The mayor-elect then returned to his central theme of “hope” and “change”. He reinforced it by quoting former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. I think of the words of Jawaharlal Nehru. A moment comes but rarely in history when we step out from the old to the new. When an age ends & the soul of a nation finds utterance. Tonight we step out from the old to the new, Mamdani said.

The young and charismatic Democrat then listed out his pledges, including providing universal child care, fast and free buses, and freezing rent increases, as the crowd responded with thunderous applause. We will hold bad landlords to account because the Donald Trumps of our city have grown far too comfortable taking advantage of their tenants. We will put an end to the culture of corruption that has allowed billionaires like Trump to evade taxation and exploit tax breaks, he said.
