In a significant development, the Madhya Pradesh government on Friday recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the tragic death of Noida resident Twisha Sharma, acceding to her family’s persistent demand for an independent investigation by the central agency.

Copies of the order have been dispatched to the Joint Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Union Home Secretary, the CBI Director in New Delhi, the Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police, the Bhopal District Magistrate, the Bhopal Police Commissioner, and regional CBI officers in Bhopal for prompt execution. The development came a few days after the Police Commissioner of Bhopal confirmed that Sharma had died due to suicide.

Twisha was married to Samarth Singh, son of retired sessions judge Giribala Singh, in December 2025 after the two met through a dating application in 2024.
