Manager, Fest Organiser Poisoned Zubeen Garg, Bandmate Makes Shocking Allegations

New Delhi : Days after the death of Zubeen Garg shocked the nation, explosive details have emerged, with his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami alleging that the singer’s manager and the organiser of the event where he was supposed to perform in Singapore poisoned him. Zubeen, known for his Bollywood and Assamese songs, died in Singapore on September 19 while swimming near an island in Singapore. He had gone on a yacht outing and was accompanied by both Goswami and Mahanta.

Goswami alleged that Sharma, who stayed with Zubeen at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore, behaved suspiciously prior to the singer’s death. He further alleged that Sharma forcibly took control of the yacht from its sailor during their outing, putting passengers at risk. Goswami also revealed that Sharma, Zubeen’s manager, instructed Tanmoy Phukan (a member of Assam Association, Singapore) not to arrange drinks, claiming that he alone would provide them.

Significantly, he claimed that when Zubeen struggled to breathe while swimming, Sharma shouted, Jabo de, jabo de (let him go). Goswami also said Zubeen was frothing in the mouth and nose, but Sharma dismissed it as “acid reflux” and assured others there was nothing to worry about. Goswami told investigators that Zubeen, an expert swimmer who had trained both him and Sharma, could not have died from drowning alone.

Police have cited material evidence, including financial records, and witness testimony as prima facie evidence of his culpability in non-bailable offences. Zubeen’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, in an exclusive interview with India Today, also said that she suspected foul play. She also claimed that Garg never had a heart problem. He was extremely exhausted that day. Everyone knew he had a medical condition, he suffered seizures.
