Mahagathbandhan Vs Mahagathbandhan In 11 Bihar Seats, Chirag’s Dig After RJD’s Bihar List

Patna : An analysis of the candidate lists shows that there is likely to be direct contests on 11 seats within the bloc, exposing the conflict within the opposition. The disarray in the opposition ranks, coming a fortnight before the first phase of the Bihar polls, has invited jabs from the NDA and Chirag Paswan. While the RJD and the Congress are locked in direct contest on six seats, the CPI and Congress will face each other on four.

The picture became clear after the RJD released its list of 143 candidates on Monday, which included six seats where Congress has also fielded candidates. These are Vaishali, Sikandra, Kahalgaon, Sultanganj, Narkatiaganj, and Warsaliganj. The Left and the Congress have pitted candidates against each other in Bachhwara, Rajapakar, Bihar Sharif, and Karghar.

Tej Pratap was expelled from the party earlier this year and has since launched his own party, Janshakti Janata Dal. The family feud acts as a sub plot to the already tense political drama in Bihar. Political observers believe such internal face-offs could split the opposition vote, potentially benefiting the BJP-led NDA in several constituencies.

This was echoed by Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday, who emphasised that the Mahagathbandhan gave the NDA a walkover on many “challenging seats”. “I have never seen an election where such a big alliance is on the verge of a split. There can be a dispute over the choice of seats, but they have not been able to decide even the number of seats,” Paswan, whose party is contesting on 29 seats, said.
