Pune: The Agarwal family, already mourning the death of 26 year old realtor Ketan Agarwal, has suffered another heartbreaking loss. Ketan’s grandfather, Devichand Agarwal (71), died of a cardiac arrest on Saturday, with family members saying he had remained emotionally devastated and unwell since his grandson’s death.
According to the family, Devichand Agarwal’s health deteriorated rapidly following Ketan’s death. Relatives said the elderly patriarch struggled to cope with the tragedy and was deeply affected by the events surrounding the case before suffering a fatal cardiac arrest.
The latest bereavement comes as police continue investigating Ketan Agarwal’s death at Lohagad Fort near Pune. What was initially reported as an accidental fall has since become the subject of a murder investigation, with authorities alleging that the incident may have been part of a pre planned conspiracy. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations are yet to be tested in court.
Just days before his death, Devichand Agarwal had joined a candlelight march organised by residents and supporters seeking justice for his grandson. Visibly emotional, he appealed for stringent action against those accused in the case, saying the family had been betrayed by people they trusted.
Family members described the two deaths within a span of just over two weeks as an unbearable blow. Ketan’s uncle said the young realtor’s death came as a massive shock to the grandfather, who never recovered emotionally from the loss.
The investigation into Ketan Agarwal’s death has drawn significant public attention in Maharashtra. Police have continued collecting digital and forensic evidence while questioning the accused and examining multiple aspects of the case. Officials have not announced the completion of the investigation, and further legal proceedings are expected in the coming weeks.
With Devichand Agarwal’s passing, the family now faces a second tragedy while continuing its pursuit of justice. Funeral rites were expected to be conducted in Pune in the presence of relatives and close associates, as condolences poured in from members of the local community.
