In a major crackdown, Ahmedabad police detained over 450 individuals, predominantly Bangladeshi nationals, suspected of residing illegally in the city, authorities reported on Saturday. The operation, conducted in the early hours, targeted various neighborhoods across Ahmedabad.

Ajit Rajian, Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Branch, stated that the sweep involved coordinated efforts from multiple units, including the Ahmedabad crime branch, special operations group, economic offences wing, Zone 6 police, and headquarters personnel. “We have detained more than 450 illegal immigrants, mostly from Bangladesh, who are now under interrogation. Those without valid documentation face deportation,” Rajian said.

The detained individuals have been relocated to Kankaria football ground for further processing, according to officials.
