The Gujarat government has launched the procurement of major crops including groundnut, moong, urad, and soybean at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) across more than 300 centers in 22 districts, beginning Sunday, November 9. To ensure transparency, the entire process will be monitored through CCTV surveillance systems.
According to official data, the state aims to purchase farm produce worth over ₹15,000 crore under the MSP scheme this season. The government has fixed MSP rates at ₹7,263 per quintal for groundnut, ₹7,800 per quintal for urad, and ₹5,328 per quintal for soybean. Registered farmers are being informed via SMS to bring their produce to the designated centers on scheduled dates.
Purchase drive begins in Amreli
In Amreli district, where unseasonal rainfall had caused significant crop losses, procurement at MSP has begun at marketing yards located in Rajula, Savarkundla, Bagasra, and Babra. More than 5,400 farmers from Bagasra taluka alone have registered for MSP sales. The process has started with groundnut purchases at a base price of ₹1,452 per 25 kg.
Procurement centers active in Dhanera, Banaskantha
In Banaskantha, the Dhanera Purchase and Sales Union has also started buying groundnut at MSP. The drive will continue for the next 70 days, with around 400 farmers expected to sell their produce daily. Over 20,700 farmers from the region have registered, and procurement will take place at a fixed rate of ₹1,452 per 25 kg for groundnut. MSP operations have also commenced at Vav and Tharad market yards.
Statewide rollout across Saurashtra and other regions
The MSP procurement program has expanded across most parts of Gujarat, including key agricultural zones in Saurashtra. In Junagadh district, purchasing has started at 17 of the 42 centers, primarily for groundnut and soybean. Over 1.15 lakh farmers have registered, including more than 20,000 from Keshod taluka.
