Delhi: Shubham Kumar from Delhi has emerged as the topper of JEE Advanced 2026, securing All India Rank (AIR) 1 in one of the country’s toughest engineering entrance examinations. His achievement has placed him at the top of a highly competitive field of students aspiring to secure admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The results, announced by IIT Roorkee on June 1, revealed that 56,880 candidates qualified for admission to the IITs this year. Out of nearly 1.8 lakh students who appeared for both papers of the examination, only a select number made it through, underlining the intense competition associated with JEE Advanced.
The IIT Delhi zone delivered an exceptional performance in this year’s rankings. Along with Shubham Kumar at the top, several other candidates from the region featured among the highest scorers, reflecting the strong preparation and dedication of students from the capital.
Among female candidates, Arohi Deshpande emerged as the top ranked student, earning recognition for her outstanding performance. Her success adds to the list of notable achievements recorded in this year’s examination.
For the successful candidates, the focus now shifts to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process, which will determine admissions to IITs and other premier engineering institutions. For thousands of aspirants, qualifying JEE Advanced marks the culmination of years of hard work and the beginning of a new chapter in their academic journey.
The announcement of the results has sparked celebrations in homes, schools and coaching institutes across the country, with students and their families rejoicing after months of rigorous preparation and anticipation.
