Family Of 3 Including Toddler Killed In Car Accident

In Kerala’s Thrissur region, a car lost control and crashed into their motorcycle in the Kunnamkulam area, killing three people, including a toddler.

According to authorities, the deceased were Muneer (35), his wife Safna (25), and their three-year-old son Yamil Aibak, who lived in Edakkazhiyur in Chavakkad, according to news agency ANI.

The family was allegedly heading home from a wedding celebration when the tragedy happened on the Guruvayur-Kunnamkulam road at midnight on Saturday. They had pulled over on the side of the road to answer a phone call. In the meantime, a car heading in the same way lost control and collided with the motorcyclist.

The three victims were flung about fifty meters from the scene due to the force of the hit. They were sent to local private hospitals after suffering severe injuries, where they were pronounced dead.

Police told news agency PTI that the driver of the vehicle was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the collision. According to them, the driver is fleeing while the automobile and its two occupants have been taken into custody. The collision resulted in total damage to the automobile and motorcycle.

A automobile carrying eight persons, including students from an engineering college in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district, struck the back of a parked truck on the highway near Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam late on Friday night, killing eight people.

“This is a very sorrowful incident for me,” Tamil Nadu Minister S Rajesh Kumar said on Sunday. “The Tamil Nadu Assembly will discuss the road accident to decide on compensation for the bereaved families.” The post-mortem was performed here and the bodies were turned over by the (Keralam) government. He was cited as stating, “The Tamil Nadu government has been informed.”

He noted that as the TN Assembly is now in session, information about the event and the government’s plans for the impacted families will be presented in the House on Monday.

When asked if the Tamil Nadu government would announce compensation, Kumar replied that a decision will be made after learning more about the victims and the accident’s circumstances.

“In the case of such an accident, how they came here, how it happened, after gathering all this information, the government will definitely take action,” he stated.

In response to a question concerning the absence of warning signs and inadequate upkeep on the National Highway, where road construction is now underway, Kumar stated that a number of projects were being completed in collaboration with the National Highway authority.

“This area also has active road construction. We hope that these kinds of things never occur,” he stated.
