
A devastating explosion at a firecracker factory in Banaskantha, Gujarat, has claimed the lives of 17 workers from Madhya Pradesh, while three others sustained serious injuries. The incident, which took place at a factory on Dhunwa Road in Deesa, was triggered by a boiler explosion, leading to a massive fire. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, but search and rescue efforts are ongoing as more workers are feared trapped.
Factory’s Licensing Violations Under Investigation
The factory, identified as Deepak Traders, is owned by Khoobchand Sindhi. Authorities have revealed that while the factory had a license to sell firecrackers, it was not authorized to manufacture them. A police investigation has been launched to determine the full extent of the factory’s violations

Rescue Operations Continue
According to Deesa MLA Pravin Mali, multiple workers remain trapped under the rubble. However, five workers have been rescued and are receiving treatment at a hospital. The death toll could rise as rescue teams work tirelessly to clear the debris.
Blast Impact and Scene of Devastation
The force of the explosion was so severe that human body parts were found scattered across nearby fields. Emergency teams are now working to cool down the factory’s interior after extinguishing the fire.

Disa SDM Neha Panchal stated, “The injured workers have been admitted to a civil hospital, with three of them suffering burns covering more than 40 percent of their bodies. The administration has launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion, and the exact reason for the accident will soon be revealed”.
