New York : US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that President Donald Trump is likely to visit India early next year. He praised the strong relationship between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called India-US ties fantastic. Rubio said he hopes to visit India before the end of this year to prepare for Trump’s trip.
We are working towards a visit by the President sometime early next year. India is a close partner of the United States, and the relationship between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi is very strong. That is very important in diplomacy,” Rubio said. If the visit happens, it will be Trump’s first trip to India since February 2020 and his first since returning to the White House for a second term.
Rubio praised the bond between the two leaders, saying, “The relationship between the President and the Prime Minister of India is great.” He also said that India and the US are close to finalising a bilateral trade agreement. “I think things are going very well. We had a great meeting with Prime Minister Modi at the G7. We are in the final stage of completing the trade deal, and the talks are very positive,” Rubio said.
The US Secretary of State also praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, saying he is a “fan” of the Indian leader. He said Modi has helped make India an important global power. On energy, Rubio said India and the United States are working together to increase energy supplies.
