9 Dead, 4 Injured as Fire Tears Through Residential Building in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar

New Delhi: At least nine people are dead and four others injured after a fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar in the early hours of Sunday. Prima facie, the blaze is believed to have started due to an AC blast. Twelve fire tenders were rushed to the site.

Five of the nine bodies were recovered from the second floor. Three more were found in the staircase, and one on the first floor. Authorities received the first call at 3.47 am. Police reached the spot immediately. Fire trucks followed shortly after.

According to police, the fire spread across the second, third, and fourth floors of the building, triggering a large-scale rescue operation. Over a dozen people have been rescued so far, and officials fear the death toll may climb further.
