Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro: Anticipated Upgrades in Design, Colors

Apple is preparing to introduce its next flagship lineup, with the iPhone 18 Pro models generating considerable interest among technology enthusiasts. According to reports, the company is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max later in 2026, while the standard variant may arrive in 2027.

Although Apple has yet to make any official statements, leaks and industry sources have offered a glimpse into potential features. The iPhone 18 Pro is likely to retain a design language similar to the iPhone 17 Pro but will introduce fresh colour options. Apple is reportedly testing dark cherry, light blue, silver, and dark grey finishes, with the deep red-toned dark cherry expected to stand out as a signature choice.

Design refinements are also on the cards. The rear panel may shift to a single-tone finish, moving away from the previous two-tone aesthetic. A more noticeable update could appear on the front, where the Dynamic Island is rumoured to shrink by approximately 35 percent, freeing up additional display real estate. Screen sizes are projected to remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max, supported by advanced LTPO+ technology for better energy efficiency.

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. This new processor could deliver up to 15 percent better performance and 30 percent improved efficiency compared to the A19 Pro. Battery capacity is also set for a modest boost, particularly in the Pro Max, which may feature a 5,100mAh to 5,200mAh cell.

Camera capabilities are poised for significant enhancement. The triple-camera system is expected to consist of three 48-megapixel sensors — main, ultrawide, and telephoto. Apple is said to be experimenting with a variable aperture on the primary lens for greater control over light intake and considering Samsung’s new three-layer stacked image sensor to improve speed and dynamic range. The front camera is likely to carry forward the 18-megapixel sensor from the previous generation.

Software-wise, the devices are anticipated to launch with iOS 27, bringing major improvements to Siri, including possible integration with Google’s Gemini AI models. Expanded satellite connectivity for internet access in remote areas without cellular coverage is another expected feature.

The launch is traditionally scheduled for September, which would mark the first under incoming CEO John Ternus, who succeeds Tim Cook on September 1, 2026. Alongside the Pro models, Apple may also showcase its first foldable iPhone. Pricing is expected to remain in line with the iPhone 17 series, starting around Rs 1,34,900 for the Pro and Rs 1,49,900 for the Pro Max in India.
