PM Modi Tries ‘Sarvam Kaze’, India’s First AI Smart Glasses At AI Impact Summit 2026

Made-in-India AI smart glasses ‘Sarvam Kaze’, tested by PM Modi at the AI Impact Summit, highlight domestic innovation and language-centric AI design.

New Delhi : At the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi captured headlines when he became the first person to try a pair of Sarvam Kaze, a newly unveiled artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses made in India. Launched by Indian startup Sarvam AI, the wearable debuted at the India AI Expo held at Bharat Mandapam, symbolising the country’s growing focus on indigenous AI technology.

Modi paused at the Sarvam AI stall during his summit tour and slipped on the sleek black device, marking a high-profile moment for the product and its makers. The startup’s co-founder, Pratyush Kumar, shared images on X showing the prime minister testing the glasses and noted that Modi was the first person to wear them publicly.

The Sarvam Kaze glasses represent Sarvam AI’s entrance into the competitive smart eyewear market, pitching themselves as a Made-in-India alternative to international offerings such as Meta’s Ray-Ban devices. Equipped with voice-activated AI, the wearable can listen to commands, process natural interactions, and capture visuals through built-in cameras, all driven by the company’s proprietary models tailored for Indian languages and everyday use.

What distinguishes Kaze is its emphasis on localisation: its underlying AI is trained to handle a range of Indian languages and voice interactions optimised for regional contexts, rather than relying on off-the-shelf foreign models. This focus positions the device as a genuinely indigenous product designed with local users in mind.

Sarvam AI has confirmed that Kaze will go on sale in May 2026, though pricing and specific supported languages have not yet been disclosed. The company is also inviting developers to build customized experiences for the platform, further expanding its ecosystem. The product’s spotlight at a major global AI summit, coupled with the prime minister’s early endorsement, offers the startup a remarkable launch platform that extends far beyond conventional marketing.
