Claude AI Outage: Anthropic Chatbot Faces Service Disruption, Users Report Access Issues

Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude experienced a service disruption on Tuesday, leaving users in several regions unable to access the platform and its related services. Reports of the outage quickly surfaced online, with many users turning to outage-tracking platform Downdetector to report problems. 

Surge in User Complaints

According to Downdetector, complaints increased sharply around midday as users reported difficulties using Claude Chat, the mobile application, website, and developer-focused tools. The spike suggested the issue was widespread rather than limited to isolated users. Most complaints were linked to Claude Chat, while others involved the app, website access, login issues, API connectivity, and latency problems.

Users also took to social media to share their experiences, citing trouble loading conversations, receiving responses, and accessing various Claude-powered services. 

Anthropic Acknowledges the Problem

Anthropic confirmed the disruption through its official status page, identifying the incident as one involving elevated errors across multiple models. The company stated that it had identified the cause of the issue and was implementing a fix. 

Several services were listed as being affected by a partial outage, including Claude.ai, the Claude Console, Claude API, and Claude Code. At the time, Anthropic had not provided a timeline for complete restoration of services. 

Service Restoration Efforts Underway

As reports continued to emerge, Anthropic said its engineering teams were working to resolve the disruption. Separate reports indicated that the company had identified the root cause and rolled out corrective measures to restore normal operations. 

The outage highlighted the growing reliance on AI-powered tools for everyday tasks, including software development, research, and enterprise applications. Users were advised to monitor official updates from Anthropic while restoration efforts continued.

Not the First Claude Outage

The latest disruption follows several service interruptions reported by Claude users in recent months. Previous incidents affected chatbot access, coding tools, and app functionality, prompting concerns among some users regarding platform reliability. However, Anthropic has consistently responded by investigating issues and deploying fixes to restore service. 

As of the latest updates, Anthropic continued monitoring the situation and working toward full recovery of affected services.
