Washington : Just after a day Open AI launched the Codex app for Mac which embarked on more than 2,00,000 downloads on its first day, disruption hits on ChatGPT. Searches for “ChatGPT down” surged on X as reports of outages spread widely.
According to the outage website Downdetector.com there were thousands of users who faced outages of ChatGPT, the OpenAI chatbot. There were more than 12,000 incidents of users reporting the issues in the USA but not in India. This outage occurred at 03.25 pm ET which was gathered by a number of sources from status reports. Users took to their social media handles and shared their posts regarding their issues faced by ChatGPT and notified their problems in accessing the service.

The moment users were typing their input on ChatGPT they were responded with “Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong” error message. So most of the US users logged their complaints to Downdetector to see if the outage was widespread.
Techradar noted that while using VPNs chatbot seems to be working in other countries such as Ireland, India, Canada and Poland although they took time to respond to any queries.
What OpenAI said?
In its status report OpenAI stated that they are currently experiencing some issues . There may be users who are having hard times while using ChatGPT as they are now monitoring the recovery and have been working to resolve the situation. The company said, “We have identified that users are experiencing elevated errors from the impacted services. We are working on implementing a mitigation”.
ChatGPT also confirmed that the outage has affected nearly all of its features like search, image, codex, atlas, and other services.
