Activision, one of the largest third-party video game publishers in the world, has officially announced that its Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile servers will be taken offline on April 17, 2026, bringing an end to the mobile version of the popular battle-royale franchise.
The publisher confirmed that the game will remain accessible to current players until the mid-April shutdown, but after that date its online functionality will cease. This decision follows a series of changes that began in May 2025, when Warzone Mobile was removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and stopped receiving seasonal updates or new content. Since then, the title has been effectively in maintenance mode with no fresh additions.
Warzone Mobile was launched to bring the franchise’s signature large-scale maps and battle-royale mechanics to smartphones, aiming to mirror the experience found on consoles and PCs. However, challenges including technical performance issues, high hardware requirements and stiff competition in the mobile shooter market limited its long-term success.
Activision is encouraging players who want to continue enjoying Call of Duty on mobile devices to transition to Call of Duty: Mobile, a separate and more established title that will keep receiving updates and seasonal content. The company said player feedback will continue to inform development across its mobile offerings.
The closure of Warzone Mobile does not affect other versions of the battle-royale experience. Call of Duty: Warzone remains playable and free on major platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Battle.net.
Analysts say the move underscores the difficulty of translating complex, large-scale shooters to mobile while satisfying the expectations of diverse player bases.
