Mumbai: Rohit Sharma began his career under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy — making his T20 International debut in 2007 and Test debut in 2013. Having played for nearly a decade and a half under Dhoni’s leadership, especially in ODIs, Rohit is well aware of Dhoni’s every mannerism and unique style. So when someone mimics Dhoni, it’s natural that Rohit would be instantly amused.
That’s exactly what happened on Tuesday at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai. A mimicry artist performed an imitation of MS Dhoni on stage, perfectly capturing his tone and body language. Listening to it, Rohit Sharma couldn’t stop laughing — clutching his stomach in amusement.
Sitting just behind him was his wife Ritika, who also couldn’t hold back her laughter.
Rohit laughed so much that his eyes filled with tears, and he enthusiastically applauded the mimicry artist’s performance.
He clearly enjoyed the event thoroughly — on one hand laughing uncontrollably at the act, while on the other, guests around him smiled watching him so delighted.

It was under Dhoni’s captaincy that Rohit truly flourished in limited-overs cricket. He remains the only player in the world to score three double centuries in ODIs, with his 264-run record still unbeaten.
Recently, after Rohit was replaced by Shubman Gill as India’s ODI captain, this was his first public appearance. Next week, Rohit is scheduled to travel to Australia along with Virat Kohli and the Gill-led ODI squad, putting him back in the media spotlight once again.
At 38, Rohit was also honored at the CEAT ceremony for leading India to victory in the ODI Champions Trophy in March.
