Miami/Kansas: England and Argentina secured their places in the semi-finals of the 23rd FIFA World Cup after defeating Norway and Switzerland respectively in the quarter-finals.
Just after midnight on Saturday, England registered a thrilling 2-1 victory over Norway to book their place in the last four.
On Sunday morning, defending champions Argentina stormed into the semi-finals with a dramatic 3-1 win over Switzerland, scoring two late goals in the closing minutes of the match.
England defeated Norway in the quarter-finals thanks to two goals from Jude Bellingham in the 47th and 93rd minutes. For Norway,
Andreas Schjelderup scored in 36th minute. Norway’s superstar Erling Haaland was kept under constant pressure by England’s defenders throughout the match and was not allowed to score even once, making him completely ineffective.
In the final quarter-final, Argentina and Switzerland were level at 1-1 until the 112th minute, with the match appearing destined for a penalty shootout. However, Julián Álvarez found the net in the 112th minute before Lautaro Martínez added another goal in the 121st minute to seal a memorable 3-1 victory for Argentina. For Switzerland, Dan Ndoye scored in the 67th minute. In the beginning, Allister scored in the 10th minute for Argentina.
The semi-final line-up is now complete. France will face Spain on Tuesday (after midnight at 12.30) , while Argentina will take on England on Wednesday (after midnight at 12.30).
