IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Set To Sign Ex SRH, CSK Stars As Short-Term Replacements

Mumbai— With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season extended, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has permitted franchises to secure short-term replacement players. Mumbai Indians, a dominant force in the current campaign, are poised to sign former Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings batter Jonny Bairstow and ex-Chennai Super Kings pacer Richard Gleeson, according to a report by ESPNCricinfo.

The move comes as Mumbai Indians face the departure of key players Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks due to international commitments. Rickelton is set to join South Africa for the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia, while Jacks will represent England in an ODI series against the West Indies, coinciding with the IPL 2025 playoffs.

Bairstow, who went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction, brings a wealth of experience with over 50 appearances for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. His inclusion is expected to strengthen Mumbai’s batting lineup as they aim for a sixth IPL title. Gleeson, previously acquired by Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 season, adds depth to the bowling attack.

This strategic signing underscores Mumbai Indians’ determination to maintain their competitive edge in the race for the IPL 2025 crown.
