Ahmedabad: Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most popular tournament in the cricketing world, and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the largest cricket stadium globally. Today at 7:30 PM, a high-stakes Qualifier-2 match will be played here between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), drawing the attention of the entire cricket fraternity toward Ahmedabad. What makes it even more exciting is that the IPL-2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the winner of today’s match will also be held at the same venue on Tuesday. For three days straight, Ahmedabad will echo in every lane of every city and village across India.
Speaking of RCB, their superstar batsman Virat Kohli arrived in Ahmedabad on Saturday along with his wife, actress Anushka Sharma. The couple was seen wearing masks upon arrival at the Ahmedabad airport.
With COVID-19 showing signs of resurgence in the country, people are taking precautions seriously again.
In today’s Qualifier-2, whichever team wins between Mumbai and Punjab will face Bengaluru in the final on Tuesday at 7:30 PM. If Mumbai wins today and clinches the final, it will be their record-setting sixth IPL title. However, if they win today but lose in the final to Bengaluru, RCB will be crowned a new IPL champion. On the other hand, if Punjab defeats Mumbai today and then overcomes Bengaluru in the final, they too have a shot at becoming first-time IPL champions.
Anushka has attended several IPL-2025 matches in the stadium before, and this time she’s in Ahmedabad to witness her husband become an IPL champion for the very first time.
Bengaluru has reached the final for the fourth time and is considered a hot favorite to finally win the title this season.
When Virat arrived at the Ahmedabad airport, he was seen wearing a black T-Shirt with matching denim and his favorite cap, all while keeping his mask on. Anushka was dressed in a white loose-fitted shirt and striped bottoms. She also wore a mask and had her hair tied back in a ponytail.
