As the Indian Premier League 2025 enters its final phase, 52 matches have been completed with 22 more scheduled over the next three weeks. With the playoff race heating up, here’s where all 10 teams currently stand:
Frontrunners: RCB, MI, GT, and PBKS
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans have maintained a steady presence in the top four, with RCB securing four consecutive wins. Mumbai Indians made a stunning turnaround after a poor start, registering six straight victories following early setbacks. Their recent form puts them firmly in playoff contention.
RCB, with 16 points, are virtually guaranteed a playoff spot, given that no team has missed out after reaching this mark in a 14-match league format. Meanwhile, MI and GT are set to face off at Wankhede on Tuesday ensuring at least one of them hits the 16-point benchmark, barring a washout.
Punjab Kings began the season with promise but experienced inconsistency. A recent four-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk has reignited their hopes of making the playoffs for the first time since their 2014 runner-up finish.
Mid-Table Tussle: DC, LSG, and KKR
Delhi Capitals once looked strong, winning their first five games. However, a 12-run loss to Mumbai Indians disrupted their momentum, leading to three defeats in their next four outings, including a setback against a struggling Kolkata Knight Riders.
Lucknow Super Giants experienced a similar dip. After three straight wins, they now sit sixth, following a string of losses, including a heavy 54-run defeat to MI.
Kolkata Knight Riders have had a patchy season, alternating wins and losses, and have yet to find consistent form. Their upcoming clash with Rajasthan Royals could be pivotal.
For all three DC, LSG, and KKR—the next few games will be crucial in determining their playoff chances.
Struggling to Survive: SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad, runners-up last year, have failed to replicate their past success. Despite a strong start against the Royals and a high-scoring win over Punjab Kings, they slipped into the bottom three after four consecutive losses. A recent defeat to Gujarat Titans has pushed them closer to elimination.
To stay in contention, SRH must win all four remaining matches with significant margins to improve their Net Run Rate and hope for favorable results elsewhere.
Out of the Race: CSK and RR
Chennai Super Kings became the first team to be officially eliminated following a home defeat to Punjab Kings. Rajasthan Royals followed suit the next day after a crushing loss to Mumbai Indians.
With nothing left to fight for but pride, both teams may now look to test their bench strength. CSK’s woes continued with a narrow defeat to RCB, marking a rare season double loss to their southern rivals. RR aim to end on a high note as they prepare to face KKR at Eden Gardens.
