India Sets New Record Against West Indies, Defeats Them in Fewest Balls

Ahmedabad: Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, the Indian Test team brought an early end to the first Test match of the series against West Indies, led by Roston Chase, defeating them in just two and a half days. Not only was the match concluded quickly, but India also set a unique record in the 77-year Test history between the two nations.

Out of the 101 Tests played so far between India and West Indies, West Indies has lost 24. However, the result of this Ahmedabad match is a major blot for the West Indies team, as they couldn’t even play a full 90 overs across both innings a new record. To put it another way, the Caribbean team faced only 536 balls in total, which is the fewest deliveries they’ve ever played before losing to India in a Test match.

Victory by an Innings, Jadeja Named Man of the Match

The Test started on October 2nd, with West Indies choosing to bat. India fielded their best Test team, while the Caribbean side was more of a second-string squad. West Indies scored just 162 runs in their first innings, with Justin Greaves’ 32 being the top score. Mohammed Siraj took 4 wickets, Jasprit Bumrah 3, and Kuldeep Yadav 2.

In their second innings on Saturday, West Indies were bowled out for just 146, leading to India’s win by an innings and 140 runs. Jadeja took 4 wickets, Siraj 3, Kuldeep 2, and Washington Sundar took 1. For his all-round performance 104 and 4 wickets* Jadeja was named Man of the Match.
