Haris Rauf Suspended, Suryakumar Yadav Fined for Asia Cup Code of Conduct Breaches

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken disciplinary action against Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and India’s Suryakumar Yadav for breaches of the Code of Conduct during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025. In a statement released on Tuesday, the ICC confirmed sanctions against the two players, while also handing one demerit point to Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his actions.

The disciplinary proceedings followed incidents during the highly-charged matches between India and Pakistan on September 14, 21, and 28. India emerged victorious in all three encounters, including the tournament final.

Details of the Sanctions

Suryakumar Yadav was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to actions that bring the game into disrepute. As a result, he has been fined 30 percent of his match fee and has received two demerit points on his record.

Pakistan’s Haris Rauf was also found guilty of breaching the same article in a hearing conducted by ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson. He received a similar penalty of a 30 percent match fee fine and two demerit points.

However, for Rauf, these two points brought his total to four demerit points within a 24-month period. Under ICC regulations, this automatically translates to two suspension points. Consequently, Rauf has been suspended for Pakistan’s upcoming ODI matches against South Africa on November 4 and 6.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah accepted a separate charge under Article 2.21. He received an official warning and one demerit point. As he accepted the proposed sanction, no formal hearing was required.
