Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs at Eden Gardens on Monday, propelling them to the top of the IPL 2025 standings. Chasing a challenging target of 198 runs, KKR managed just 159/8 despite captain Ajinkya Rahane’s half-century.
The Gujarat bowling attack proved too strong for Kolkata, with Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan each claiming two wickets to dismantle the home team’s batting lineup.
Earlier in the match, KKR captain Rahane won the toss and elected to field. The decision backfired as GT skipper Shubman Gill delivered an explosive 90-run performance, well-supported by Sai Sudharsan’s composed 50. Their opening partnership laid the foundation for Gujarat’s imposing total of 198/3 from their 20 overs on what was considered a tricky pitch.
