Mumbai: Even after Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree parted ways earlier this year, speculations and discussions around their troubled marriage and divorce continue to surface. Now, Devisha Shetty, wife of India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, has stepped in to show her support for Dhanashree. Through her Instagram stories, Devisha openly extended solidarity.
According to a Reddit post, Devisha shared a screenshot of Dhanashree’s recent interview with Humans of Bombay, captioning it: “I have immense respect for you and a lot of love too.”
Cricketers’ wives generally avoid commenting on such sensitive issues, but Devisha’s public support for Dhanashree has been widely seen as “a woman standing by another woman.”
The post sparked media reactions, with several netizens blaming Chahal for the fallout. One user wrote: “It’s great that Suryakumar’s wife has supported Dhanashree. Clearly, she would know more than the rest of us.” Another commented: “Regardless of who was at fault, Chahal’s conduct after the divorce appeared immature. First, he wore a sarcastic T-shirt on the day of separation, and later made some damaging remarks about Dhanashree in a podcast. Dhanashree, however, handled both situations with dignity, emphasizing that relationships deserve respect.”
On the day of the divorce, Chahal was seen wearing a T-shirt with the line “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” The phrase broadly implies being self-reliant and not depending on others to fulfill one’s needs.
