The highly anticipated wedding between Indian cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed due to a family medical emergency. The ceremony, which was proceeding smoothly with high-profile guests and family members in attendance, was abruptly halted when an ambulance arrived at the venue, causing immediate concern among the attendees.
Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, officially confirmed to India Today that the cricketer’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, had fallen ill earlier in the day. He was rushed to a hospital in Sangli for urgent medical attention and remains under observation while undergoing tests. Mishra stated that Mandhana was adamant about pausing the nuptials to focus entirely on her father’s recovery, leading to the decision to call off the event for the time being.
The couple was scheduled to tie the knot today, November 23, in a private ceremony in Maharashtra. Celebrations had been in full swing for two days, with viral videos capturing the cricketer dancing with teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, and others during the Haldi and Sangeet functions. The festivities also included a playful pre-wedding cricket match between the bride’s and groom’s teams, which had added a festive spirit to the occasion before the unfortunate turn of events.
