14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes Fastest Half-Century of IPL 2025, Dismantles Siraj and Ishant

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century. Representing Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Suryavanshi reached the milestone in just 17 balls — the quickest fifty of the IPL 2025 season.

The teenager showed no mercy against seasoned Indian pacers Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj. In a dominant display during Ishant’s over, Suryavanshi hammered 28 runs, forcing the veteran bowler to deliver two wides under pressure.

Suryavanshi wasted no time setting the tone, smashing a six off Mohammed Siraj on only his third ball faced in the innings. His explosive innings also marked the second-fastest fifty ever by a Rajasthan Royals player and the fastest against Gujarat Titans in IPL history.

The Rajasthan Royals camp erupted in celebration as Suryavanshi achieved his record-breaking feat, with teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal warmly embracing the young sensation in recognition of his electrifying performance.

Opening alongside Jaiswal, Suryavanshi launched a brutal assault from the outset, with the pair amassing 87 runs during the powerplay. Ishant Sharma, in particular, bore the brunt of their aggressive approach.

Replacing Sanju Samson:
Suryavanshi was drafted into the Royals’ squad earlier this season after captain Sanju Samson was sidelined due to a side strain. Making his debut against Lucknow Super Giants, the left-handed batter scored 34 runs, followed by a 16-run knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Notably, he had begun his IPL 2025 journey with a first-ball six off Shardul Thakur.

Returning to Monday’s match, Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable total of 209/4 in 20 overs, propelled by half-centuries from Shubman Gill (84) and Jos Buttler (unbeaten 50). Maheesha Theekshana starred with the ball for the Royals, picking up two wickets.
