Yash Thakur, a pacer from Vidarbha, has been named to India’s squads for the upcoming Asian Games and the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which begins on September 13. After making his debut for his country against Zimbabwe in July, this will be Thakur’s second Twenty20 International series.
After an outstanding performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year, where he took 18 wickets in seven games, Thakur was called up for the Indian squad. During the next tour to Zimbabwe, he claimed four wickets in two games at an economy rate of 9.37.
After suffering another injury, Harshit Rana, who was recovering at the Center of Excellence from a hamstring injury, was ruled out. The injury was verified to be a rectus femoris strain sustained while bowling during a match simulation on September 7, according to a statement from the BCCI.
The new team includes Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Jasprit Bumrah, who were all seeking fitness clearance for the Afghanistan T20Is. Before the Asian Games, India and Japan will play a historic one-off Twenty20 International.
