New Chandigarh : The end of the 19th season of the IPL is now in sight, and there is one striking similarity among the three teams still left in the tournament. Rajasthan and Gujarat, who will face each other in Qualifier 2 today (from 7.30 pm), have each won the IPL title only once before — in 2008 and 2022 respectively.
Waiting in the final for the winner of the Gujarat-Rajasthan clash is Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2025), which also has just one IPL title to its name.
Ahead of today’s match, Gujarat assistant coach Parthiv Patel told reporters yesterday that the team has devised a plan not only for Rajasthan as a whole, but especially to keep young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi under control and dismiss him early.
The two teams have met 10 times in total, with Gujarat winning seven matches and Rajasthan only three. However, playoff cricket is a different ball game, and Rajasthan will be hopeful of victory on the strength of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and its other star players.
