One name surfacing in that conversation is Ananya Birla — not because she’s involved in the franchise, but because people are simply curious about her. That curiosity makes sense. Ananya is the daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of the Aditya Birla Group. Born in Mumbai in 1994, she attended the American School of Bombay before moving to the UK for university. She studied Economics and Management at Oxford but didn’t stay on the conventional track.
She left Oxford to start Svatantra Microfin, a financial services company focused on rural women in underserved parts of India. Alongside that, she built a career as a pop artist with an international audience.
Today, she operates across three distinct lanes: entrepreneur, investor, and musician. It’s an unusual combination, especially against the backdrop of a business family that typically produces a different kind of heir.
