Mumbai: While India’s T20 cricketers will be competing in the Asian Games in Japan, the ODI specialists will be taking on the West Indies at home. The Indian team for the ODI series against the Caribbean side was announced on Wednesday, with a few surprising decisions.
Experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant have not been included in the ODI squad for the series against the West Indies. Veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, however, have been named in the ODI team.
Hardik is yet to prove his fitness by playing for India A. The ODI series against the West Indies will begin on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by the second ODI in Guwahati on September 30 and the third in New Chandigarh on October 3. All three matches will begin at 2:00 pm.
Spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been given an opportunity to make his ODI comeback. All-rounder Naman Dhir and Kashmir fast bowler Aqib Nabi have also been handed the chance to make their ODI debuts.
