Jaipur: Fifteen-year-old Bihar batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi has once again become the talk of the cricket world. With another explosive knock in Jaipur on Tuesday, he not only entertained fans but also entered the record books with a unique world achievement. Now, on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium, he could rewrite another major IPL record currently held by Chris Gayle.
A Blazing 93 in Jaipur
Vaibhav unleashed a storm of boundaries on Tuesday. He was eventually caught off Mohsin Khan’s bowling for 93, but before getting out, he had already laid a strong foundation for Rajasthan’s victory.
Out of his 93 runs, 88 came through boundaries as he smashed 10 sixes and seven fours. Until his dismissal in the 14th over, he had completely lit up Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium with his fearless strokeplay.
New World Record in T20 Cricket
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now become the youngest player in T20 cricket history to score 500 runs in a single tournament.
Before Tuesday’s innings, he was yet to cross the 500-run mark in the IPL, but his 93-run knock has now taken his tally to 579 runs, making him the leading run-scorer of the tournament and the current Orange Cap holder.
Padikkal’s Seven-Year-Old Record Broken
The previous world record belonged to Devdutt Padikkal, who had scored 580 runs in the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the age of 19.
That record for most runs in a T20 tournament by a player under 20 had remained untouched for seven years before Vaibhav broke it at just 15 years of age.

Gayle’s Record Now on Vaibhav’s Radar
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already smashed 53 sixes in the ongoing IPL season. The record for most sixes in a single IPL season — 59 — is held by Chris Gayle.
History Beckons at Wankhede
Rajasthan’s final league match will be played against Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. If Vaibhav manages to hit seven sixes in that game, he will surpass Gayle’s long-standing IPL record and script yet another historic milestone.
