India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty are preparing to welcome their first child, marking a cherished personal moment in what has already been an outstanding year for the cricketer.
The couple married on July 7, 2016, after being together for six years. They first met in 2010 while studying at Mumbai’s R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics. Devisha is a professionally trained Bharatnatyam dancer and works as a dance instructor.
Recently, the pair hosted an intimate baby shower surrounded by close friends and family. Photos and videos from the event quickly spread across social media, drawing warm congratulations from fans and followers.
The announcement arrives during a remarkable phase for Suryakumar. Last week, he led India to the T20 World Cup title—the team’s third triumph in the format. While his individual batting figures were moderate—242 runs in nine innings at an average of 30.25—his captaincy proved decisive. He struck a vital half-century in the tournament’s opening match against the USA, though he struggled to convert promising starts in later games. In the final against New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, he was dismissed for a golden duck by James Neesham.

Now 35, Suryakumar will shift focus to the upcoming Indian Premier League season. He remains with Mumbai Indians under captain Hardik Pandya, a team he has represented for the last two editions. The five-time champions kick off their title defence on March 29 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians hold the edge in their IPL head-to-head record against KKR, with 24 wins to KKR’s 11.
