Shreyanka Patil Ruled Out Of T20 WC

Indian offspinner Shreyanka Patil was ruled out of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup after suffering an ankle injury against the Netherlands on Wednesday. Patil had to be strechered off of the field after she twisted her ankle while attempting to field the ball in the last over of the powerplay

24 year old uncapped leg spinner Prema Rawat has been named as replacement. Rawat plies her trade for Uttarakhand in the domestic circuit and has been part of India’ A for a while, with standout performance in the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament.

Shreyanka’s recent injury adds to her already long list of various injuries. She has spent much of the last 2 years in and out of rehab, missing the WPL in 2025.

It remains to be seen if Rawat will be a straight swap in the playing 11 or will India tinker with the team combination to cover for Patil’s edge over lefties and her performance in death overs. India next take on the Proteas on 21st June.
