India-West Indies Series Record Book: 10 Centuries And 2,109 Runs In Three ODIs!

Shai Hope Prevents a Whitewash: India Wins Series 2-1

New Chandigarh: India won the three-match ODI series 2-1 after the third and final ODI ended here on Saturday, while West Indies prevented a clean sweep by winning the last match. Both teams therefore had reasons to be satisfied, while the series also produced several fascinating numbers for cricket fans.

A total of 10 individual centuries were scored in the series, making it the second-highest tally of centuries in a bilateral ODI series.

A total of 2,109 runs were scored across the six innings of this short series. This is a world record for a three-match ODI series. The previous record was 2,090 runs, scored during the 2017 ODI series between India and England. That record has now been broken.

The three match scores in the India-West Indies series were as follows: (1) West Indies 7/295 and India 2/300; (2) West Indies 7/405 and India 2/406; (3) India 7/351 and West Indies 5/352.

India scored a total of 1,057 runs in the entire series, which is a world record for a three-match ODI series. England had scored 1,054 runs in the 2017 series, and India have now surpassed that record by three runs.

West Indies captain Shai Hope’s unbeaten 162 against India in the third ODI on Saturday is now the highest score by a wicketkeeper-captain in a single ODI. He broke the previous world record held by South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who scored 149 against West Indies in 2015.

Shai Hope’s unbeaten 162 is the second-highest individual score by a West Indies captain. Sir Viv Richards scored 181 against Sri Lanka in the 1987 World Cup.

Shai Hope’s unbeaten 162 is also the highest score by a West Indies batsman in a single ODI. He broke the Caribbean record previously held by Desmond Haynes, who remained unbeaten on 152 against India in 1989.
