New Delhi: A controversy has surfaced during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after reports emerged that a member of Pakistan’s squad was fined for inappropriate behaviour involving a female hotel staff member in Sri Lanka. According to The Free Press Journal, the incident took place in Kandy, where the team was staying during the tournament.
Reports indicate that the unnamed player behaved improperly with a female staff member at the hotel shortly before Pakistan’s Super Eight match against Sri Lanka. The situation reportedly escalated to the point where the staff member called out for help, drawing the attention of other hotel employees.
As per reports, hotel staff intervened following the incident. The matter was subsequently addressed internally by the Pakistan team management. Team manager Navaid Cheema reportedly apologised to the hotel authorities on behalf of the squad, and disciplinary action was taken against the player involved.
