Pakistan Player Fined For Misconduct With Female Hotel Staff During T20 World Cup 2026

New Delhi: A controversy has surfaced during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after reports emerged that a member of Pakistan’s squad was fined for inappropriate behaviour involving a female hotel staff member in Sri Lanka. According to The Free Press Journal, the incident took place in Kandy, where the team was staying during the tournament. 

Reports indicate that the unnamed player behaved improperly with a female staff member at the hotel shortly before Pakistan’s Super Eight match against Sri Lanka. The situation reportedly escalated to the point where the staff member called out for help, drawing the attention of other hotel employees.

As per reports, hotel staff intervened following the incident. The matter was subsequently addressed internally by the Pakistan team management. Team manager Navaid Cheema reportedly apologised to the hotel authorities on behalf of the squad, and disciplinary action was taken against the player involved.

While the identity of the cricketer has not been publicly disclosed, the player was fined by the team management for his behaviour. The incident is said to have occurred ahead of Pakistan’s final Super Eight fixture against the Sri Lankan side during the ongoing tournament. 

The matter has reportedly circulated quietly within Pakistan cricket circles, adding another layer of controversy to the team’s campaign in the competition. According to reports, discussions regarding the incident have remained largely internal, with limited public comment from officials. 

The episode has drawn attention amid Pakistan’s challenging run in the tournament, with the disciplinary issue becoming an additional distraction during the high-profile global event. However, the team management appears to have handled the situation internally, with the fine serving as immediate disciplinary action.
