Muthoot Fincorp Bags Title Sponsorship Rights for India’s Home Cricket Seasons

Muthoot Fincorp has secured the title sponsorship rights for Indian cricket’s next two home seasons, The sponsorship, which sources describe as ‘Blue Muthoot’, is believed to have been negotiated at the base price of INR 4.85 crore per match. Suggestions have also emerged that the final figure could be lower than the base price, though clarity is expected once the BCCI officially announces the deal.

Delay Due to Lack of Serious Bidders

The unveiling of the new title sponsor had been held up because serious bidders were in short supply. Industry sources put the lukewarm response down partly to the steep base price. The outgoing title sponsor, IDFC First Bank, had been paying INR 4.2 crore per match.

A competitive bidding process would have settled the title sponsor on August 13, the deadline set out in the BCCI’s Invitation to Tender (ITT). With no bidders coming forward, the BCCI opened negotiations with prospective parties. Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny and SBI Life were reportedly among those approached.

Deal Covers Around 35 Home Internationals

Muthoot Fincorp, owned by the Kochi-based Muthoot family, will hold the title rights for all international and domestic matches hosted in India until March 31, 2028. The arrangement spans roughly 35 home internationals over this period, made up of 10 Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is.

The partnership comes into effect immediately and will feature in the ODI series against the West Indies, starting September 27. Coincidentally, the series opens in Muthoot’s home state of Kerala, with the first ODI slated for Thiruvananthapuram.
