Chennai: Amid ongoing speculation that legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni (DHONI) might be seen playing his final season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), one of the world’s most popular and biggest T20 leagues, disappointing news has emerged for his millions of fans. Dhoni is unlikely to play in the first couple of weeks of this season.
Dhoni still suffering from leg pain
Dhoni has a leg injury. He wanted to play from the very start of the 19th IPL season beginning today and had been undergoing continuous treatment, but he is still experiencing significant pain in his leg. As a result, he will be out of action for around 13 to 14 days.
CSK franchise confirms
Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five titles. However, the team legend has not fully recovered from his injury yet. The CSK franchise has confirmed reports that he will miss the first two weeks.
Who will Chennai face in their first four matches?
Chennai’s first match will be played on Monday in Guwahati against Rajasthan Royals. During the first two weeks, they will also face Punjab, Bengaluru, and Delhi in their next three matches. Dhoni is likely to miss all four of these games.

Dhoni could become the oldest player
Dhoni is 44 years old, and when he plays his first match this season, he will become the oldest player in IPL history. Currently, the record is held by Mumbai’s leg-spinner Pravin Tambe. Dhoni also holds the record for most IPL matches played (278). He retired from international cricket in 2020 but has continued to play in the IPL, respecting the emotions of millions of fans.
CSK has three other wicketkeepers
While CSK will miss Dhoni in the first two weeks, the team has three other wicketkeeper-batsmen: Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel, and Karthik Sharma.
