Sepang (Malaysia): The Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, which was originally scheduled to be held in Bahrain on Sunday, was moved to Sepang, Malaysia, due to the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Amid rain interruptions, Dutch-Belgian driver Max Verstappen emerged victorious after a fiercely contested race.
Red Bull Racing driver Verstappen overcame the rain as well as a software-related problem to win the F1 race, which started 90 minutes late. He completed the race in 1 hour, 47 minutes and 14.808 seconds
Mercedes driver George Russell, who had been involved in a close battle with Verstappen, was forced to retire midway through the race because of a power-unit problem. However, his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli continued to put Verstappen under intense pressure.
The four-time world champion Verstappen finally claimed his first race victory of the 2026 season. Italy’s Antonelli finished the race just 2.307 seconds behind him.
Ferrari’s British driver Lewis Hamilton completed the race 4.919 seconds behind Verstappen and finished third.
